Daly's Drive-In Closing at End of Month

2008 Jan 13, 09h

Lately, I’ve developed a craving for going to local burger joints while rejecting national fast-food chains (how ironic since my family owns two Quiznos). Hey it may not be very healthy but at least it’s local, like Dick’s and Red Mill.

I had lunch at Daly’s on Eastlake this past Friday. I saw a sign saying they will be closing on January 28, 2008. Don’t worry they said. They plan on relocating to a new location in the neighborhood soon. If you’d like to be notified when and where they will be, just go there and leave your name and contact info.

Why is it every time I have burgers and fries, I get dehydrated very quickly? I know growing livestock consumes a lot of water but eating it? Or I’m just not drinking enough water?

While I’m on the topic of closing restaurants, I mourn the closing of Saiko Bakery CafĂ© on The Ave. They are a Japanese bakery that sold melon-pan, cream-puffs, along with matcha and coffee. They closed last December on the 15th. They also posted a sign on the door saying that a similar business selling matcha might replace them.

On the other hand, I’m going to check out Mee Sum Pastry on The Ave. I occasionally stop by their Pike Place Market location for some hum-bow.
