Second Bike-Car Accident

2008 Mar 27, 11h

Yet another accident involving a stopped car and a bike (this time a moped) caused by my own carelessness. Rushing to get back to the store in fear that I may have forgotten a demanding customer’s order, I tried to slip past a backing car and a parked pickup truck. My right mirrors hit the back of the truck, forcing me down to the ground with the bike on part of my ankle. Fortunately, no severe injuries or blood spilling. I got up and slowly returned to the store. My upper right neck hurts a bit and my arms are somewhat off but I’m okay (I hope).

The last time I got into such an accident was two years ago when I was riding my bike with insufficient lighting and rear-ended a parked car. My jaw hurt for a while and I had a bloody lip but I recovered in a week.

I also nearly got doored by a parked car on S Jackson St heading downtown. All preventable. Ride farther from parked cars and leave enough space for you and everyone sharing the same road. So far a clean sheet on my driving record but score two on my biking.
